With the ever increasing demand from people to learn Ableton Live we are pleased to introduce our new weekend Ableton workshop. This course will get you fully up and running in Ableton as well as showing you some of the exciting and unique features that makes Ableton so versitile yet user friendly. More and more of today’s top music producers, performers and DJs are using Ableton (e.g. Daft Punk, Nine Inch Nails, Coldcut, Soulwax, Sasha, etc). Ableton allows you to create, produce and perform so whether it’s in the studio or on stage Ableton has all the production tools you need!
Course Structure
The course is delivered through demonstration along with plenty of hands-on exercises so students can get a good grasp of how things work. As different features are introduced, students build in new components to a main project, so they can try out their own ideas and get a feel of how things fit together. Main topics covered include:
1.Introduction to Ableton
Session View/Arrangement View, Settings, Browser, Clip Launching, etc
2. Working with Audio
Clip properties, getting timing right, Warping, Clip Markers, manipulating audio
3. Working with MIDI
MIDI editting, programming your own beats, how to use a sampler, and some of the Ableton instruments – Drum Rack, Instrument Rack, Simpler.
4. Mixing
EQ, Compression, Gating. Working with some Ableton specific Effects – e.g. Beat Repeat, Ping Pong Delay. How to route and chain effects.
5. Arrangement and Performance
Recording an arrangement, tips and tricks on how to set up your Ableton set for performance, MIDI Controller demo etc.
Entry Requirements: A basic knowledge of audio software and terminology is recommended
Duration: Two days (8 hours per day)
