Career focus:
Music is a fundamental part of any audio or visual production. Completion of this course will create numerous career opportunities in areas such as music for radio, tv broadcast, film/video production, games development and more. Students may also be interested in developing their own businesses such as creating music backing tracks, sample libraries, radio jingles, music for web content, mobile ringtones or providing sound editing and music mastering facilities.

Processor and effects plug-ins

Note: Course content is subject to change as deemed necessary by the school.
Note 2: Throughout the course students will become proficient on state of the art hardware and software. Particular emphasis will be placed on the use of industry standard software applications such as Digidesign Pro Tools, Apple Logic Pro. Steinberg Cubase and Propellerheads Reason. Students will also have access to our superb recording studio facilities. During the course students will develop a portfolio demonstrating their knowledge and practical skills acquired during the course.
Note 3: In order to keep in-line with constant technological developments, computer hardware and software and course content is subject to change as deemed necessary by the school.
Entry Requirements:
Leaving certificate preferable but not essential.
All applicants must attend for interview.
A basic knowledge of computers is essential
Access to a computer outside of class is essential (a laptop would be best)
Ability to play an instrument would be beneficial.
Duration:
Classs attendnace: Oct. to June, 2 evenings 7.00 pm to 9.30 pm
Students will also be allocated times to attend for work on practical assignments (Saturdays). Homework and industry research will also form part of the course structure.
Award:
City & Guilds certificate in Music Technology
Fees:
Course Fee: €2,350.00. Deposit on application €200 plus balance of €2,150.
Examination fee: £80 Stg. payable May 2009.
Note: Deposit is refundable in the event of an unsuccessful application.
City & Guilds registration fees and certificate fees are included in the course fee.
